Medway Valley Photo Competition

Last weekend we held the workshop for the winners of the Medway Valley Countryside Partnership photo competition. This year the adult category was won by Jayson Worsfold and the under 18  snagged by his daughter Jessica. We had a full itinerary planned trying to take in a range of subjects but the windy weather put paid to any butterfly photography (Jessica is into macro) but luckily a couple of water voles put in an appearance and both mallard and moorhens had young on the stream. A few days earlier I put a hide in place at a good spot for late backlit rabbits and this worked out well with these ubiquitous but difficult to photograph animals posing nicely a few metres away. The day ended with a very nice bonus when one of the local foxes trotted past, pausing briefly for a few photos before going about her business. More info about the competition and Jayson and Jessica's photos here.
