Taking a break from my 2020 VISION work I recently had a day at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park primarily to get some images of the recently arrived Carpathian Lynx and also check out the amazing new enclosure for Pallas' Cats. I'll post some images of those next. Although cloud was forecast, the day was bright and sunny all day, not really the best conditions for this kind of photography. The Carpathian lynx is one of the smaller, more distinctively spotted subspecies of the Eurasian lynx and the male I photographed is a very handsome cat indeed.
The opportunity has arisen to run photography events at a new facility specialising in small endangered mammals, mainly predators. I want to gauge how much interest there might be in these so if it's something that appeals to you please get in touch. At this point I'm not sure exactly what format the events would take but we have several ideas for workshops, with an emphasis on learning the techniques involved in photographing these types of animals, including flash, how to shoot through glass etc. Alternatively, or in addition, we could offer events where more experienced photographers are provided with access to rare and unusual species difficult or impossible to photograph elsewhere. The facility is conservation orientated and the photo events would simply be another source of revenue to help with running costs. All of the animals would be part of accredited captive breeding programmes and none would be kept solely for the purposes of photography or exhibition. Let me know.

Hello friends,
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful carpathian lynx have been brought in from different countries in Europe to breed at Newquay Zoo. The female arrived first and was very quiet, tending to hide away while she was adjusting to her new surroundings and keepers. Thanks for sharing it......
